Monday morning breakfast on the balcony, a walk through Carillon Beach, and then attempts at painting using some of the acrylics these friends gave me for my birthday last year in colors of the sunsets in order to paint them while in PCB.
The days fly by with beach time after painting, then a swim in the pool before learning to play bridge and cleaning up for dinner. Today we went to buy groceries and fresh shrimp to make the pasta, caesar salad, and garlic bread for dinner. Yum!
More good sunset before eating Moose Tracks ice cream for dessert while watching the first Dancing With the Stars. Beautiful moon and stars but too tired for evening walk to check the sea turtle nests for hatchlings tonight.
Tuesday night at the Duck Races benefit across from Pineapple Willie's. Sampled local fare from Moe's BBQ, cuban sandwiches, pizza, delicious chicken salad sliders, gelato and cupcakes from Fatty Patty's while watching firefighters and EMTs race in the pool for charity and bid on silent auction items around a rooftop pool. Felt a little less like tourists and more like locals.
According to Panama City Beach Turtle Watch, nest #35 close to our place was ready to hatch but didn't. Got up early for a birdwatching walk at the PC Conservation Park with the Audubon Society. Didn't see many birds but learned so much and had a great time anyway ... lots of people at 7:30am.
Weather not so nice so we shopped at Pier Park and went to the movie "The Light Between Oceans" before heading over to Destin for lobster special dinner. Film was very true to the book we'd read for Sherry's book club; sad and haunting. More shopping after dinner; every one of us came home with a bargain so we had good hunting after all.
Thursday's and Friday's painting time focused on turning Linda's diptych (front and back home portraits) from vertical to horizontal. Got a decent start on both new panoramas with feel of sunshine on my face and the sound of waves in the background.
Maureen got us a Groupon for Rosalie's at the new 30A Avenue. Here's what happens with Garmins sometimes ... the address took us to a gas station and a call to this new restaurant said they were across from Shades. They were ... Shades the sunglasses store across the street and cattycorner from Shades the restaurant and the gas station we were in.
All well that ended well as Rosalie's was a very cool restaurant with fabulous food, there was a good jazz band from Pensacola playing in the park across the street and we got a free horse and carriage ride around this new center.
Although we didn't start this trip with our traditional oysters at Dusty's, we did end it with our traditional Friday night at Schooner's Lobsterfest.
Rain didn't stop the sand sculpting but put a damper on the outside bands and booths so we stopped by Runaway Island on the way home.
A full moon but no turtles hatched from nest 35 that night before we headed home Saturday after a good breakfast at Donut Hole (sweet potato pancakes with praline sauce). Some controversy about who's donuts are better ... these or Thomas Snack Shop (pink box). I think they're both good.
