Part 2: Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Camp Fire

The Camp Fire Law (best sung)

Worship God.
Seek beauty,
give service,
and knowledge pursue.
Be trustworthy ever in all that you do.
Hold fast onto health
and your work glorify.
And you will be happy

in the law of Camp Fire.

I started going to Camp Glen for a week every summer even before I was old enough to be a Camp Fire Girl. Now, along with others, I still like to visit and sing songs, including our Camp Fire Law.

The labyrinth we created and dedicated there during Camp Glen's 50th anniversary contains memorials to 2 of my dear friends and fellow campers: Gwen Myers Moore and Kathy English.

Part I: Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Camp Fire

A reunion held for counselors and campers last weekend reminded me that everything I ever needed to know I learned as a Camp Fire Girl.

Part I: the Blue Bird Wish

To have fun.

To learn to make all sorts of things.
To remember to finish what I begin.
To want to keep my temper in.
And to learn of nature and living outdoors.

To have adventures with everyone.
To go to places and learn how it's done.
To make friends.

Learned in my Blue Bird group in Findlay, Ohio before I was 10 years old and isn't this still a pretty good wish! Stay tuned for Part 2.
